actually, IMHO, they still haven't really replaced tony adams - and that's been the key to our problems (not that we've been that bad) - a good solid defense with a productive midfield to go with, well let's face it, its all about Henry (though reyes and van persie may live up to their potential)

michael owen = one dimensional player

all he has is his pace, he won't create much just finish things so if you nullify any service then he becomes absent (which happens at international level but fortunately rooney does have a creative spark)

so since we lost him, it has actually given us better attacking options (rather than a long ball over the top from gerrard)......though the sooner cisse starts up front, the better

i'll confess that i'm not a big rooney fan - nor an owen fan, though he does have those predatory instincts... as for england i can't say i give them much chance - they should go through their WC group, but i can't see them making much progress towards the cup . . . they lack that certain spark (and sven won't give it to them i suspect) . . . i also think beckham is so insanely overrated that it hurts my head everytime they say his name

but cisse is quite impressive - so pool should be a good contender over the next few seasons
