I think most people get viruses from downloading useless things that they don't need.
Programs, files from untrustworthy sources. I, myself, used to come across this webpage every now and then that was linked from another page...every time I hit it, my virus scan would pop up and tell me the name of the nasty virus it just blocked from eating my hard drive. Also, don't download email files from unknown sources. Some people are on a hundred mailing lists and can't keep track of all the emails they get. -NEVER enter your email address on a porn site, or any other site that will sell your address to spammers. -Try a good email server that has good spam guards. Gmail (Google's mail server) has been working great for me so far. If anyone wants to join, I have around 50 invites.

mine's clean.... Hardware NAT Firewall > Software Firewall (and that don't include the shite MS firewall ;) ) > More Security > Corporate Antivirus & Spyware Software > and Common Sence.
I would recommend people get and run an updated version of SpywareBlaster. It prevents the crap from getting through Internet Explorer, Mozilla and Firefox, and from being installed in the first place, don't have to worry about removing the stuff then. Last edited by ShankS; 04-03-2005 at 11:31 PM.
