Killer pigs? The version I saw claimed to be unrated but their was nary a sight of killer pigs. And I like killer pigs!
The problem with the scene where the French man with the pornstar moustache falls on the saw is that we don't see anything. Ok, there's plenty of claret but I was expecting to see the saw cutting into him or emerging from his chest. Didn't happen, though. Now you mention the pressure chamber I did think that was quite good. Don't see enough melting faces in modern horror these days. Ultimately, though, films like these are nothing knew. Tobe Hooper did it all first and, I dare say, a whole lot better. |

I agree, this movie didn't have much that we haven't seen before, but I thought it was a good compilation and pretty well done. It was grimy and bloody and muddy, and I felt I could taste it. That was the difference, for me, between Frontier(s) and the many other rehash movies out there. True, Tope Hooper did it already, but we can't all watch TCM '74 every day. Every other month, maybe. :) I will say though -- the first time I watched this, it was on IFC and I think it was English dubbed. The second time (years later), I watched it in French with a ridiculously bad subtitle file. Like, seriously I think the original dialogue was fed through Google Translate or something. It was so bad, it was distracting, so I focused a lot more on the visual aspect of the movie, and less on the dialogue, and that's where this movie excels IMO. However, compared to other French Extremity, I like Martyrs, Inside, Ils and probably Haute Tension better than Frontier(s). I like Frontier(s) better than Irreversible, Trouble Every Day, Sheitan, In My Skin, The Ordeal (Calvaire), Carne, and Mutants, all of which I liked quite a bit. Baise-moi was total crap. There's still a few I haven't seen, like Brotherhood of the Wolf and Seul Contre Tous (I Stand Alone). |

I just finished watching the 90's trilogy and it's really good. The 3rd movie Gamera: Revenge Of Iris is considered to be the best giant monster movie since the original Godzilla. I personally don't know if I would go that far, but the series was extremely well done. The effects were by far some of the best I have ever seen in a Kaiju film. I think you would dig these films. |

Last Seen Movie
Stitches (2012)
![]() >>: B+ Demon Hunter aka Obsidian Hearts (2012) ![]() Can't remember why did I even downloaded this crap?! But this low budget flick (probably for a TV channel) at least came up with one funny idea about demons...a pig-face 'boob-eater' demon!! :D >>: D+ The Bucks County Massacre (2010) ![]() >>: D

Dark Skies
I think the ending could've been done differently and there were some unnecessary elements but it was entertaining and actually pretty creepy without having to resort to jump scares. I liked it.

![]() "Trauma" 4/10 One of those is-he-innocent-or-is-he-crazy kinda movies. Both dull and confusing at the same time. The acting was good tho. ![]() "F" 5/10 Had a creepy score and some nice gory makeup. But besides that "F" left much to be desired, especially when it came to the last third of the movie. That ending must've pissed everybody off. And what is it with hooded teens in british horror movies these years?? THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!! Everytime i see one i just feel like beating the crap out of a teenager.

Frankenweenie (2012)
![]() Absolutely adored it. My favorite movie of the year, hands down, and definitely Burton's finest. Loved it from the beautiful homages to horror to the stunning direction and stop-motion animation - You also had a very real, very honestly touching story. I laughed. I cried. I want to own it. Highly recommended. 5/5. ... The Possession (2012) ![]() I honestly don't think that this movie successfully built up or created horror at all. There was perhaps one creepy/unsettling moment toward the end, but up until then it didn't really do it for me. I mean, even though The Last Exorcism was flawed, it at least created a successfully creepy atmosphere... This was just... Didn't. 2.5/5. ... House at the End of the Street (2012) ![]() Awful. Just... Simply awful... Especially the "twist." At least we got to see Jennifer Lawrence running around in a tank top a lot, which was nice. 2/5. ... Paranormal Activity 4 (2012) ![]() As someone noted on this forum already, this movie was absolutely unnecessary. Seriously. I actually liked the third one as I thought that it built on the first two, plus there were some damn good clever effects and the little girls were hauntingly believable. But this was totally unnecessary and ultimately forgettable. Also seemed just really really lazy to me. ... Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011) ![]() In two words: Utterly charming. Really adored it. Everything will be all right in the end. If it's not all right, then it is not yet the end. 4/5. Hotel Transylvania (2012) ![]() To be honest, with the combination of Adam Sandler and the animation, which did not immediately appeal to me, I thought this movie was going to be awful... However, it turned out to be really really cute. My biggest complaint was how incredibly lame the human infiltrator was... Regardless, though, it was a fun little watch that kept me entertained. 3/5. Dredd: Much better than expected, pretty decent film and well worth a watch when you can't be arsed to think too hard.
Universal Solider:(I think maybe 4 if I havent missed any): I quite liked the 3rd flick, despite knowing deep down it was kinda crappy. This one, however felt like it had a bit more money thrown at it but really didn't deliver. Still some decent action scenes, but to be honest, I couldn't be bothered to follow the story. Takes itself way too seriously and isnt half as much fun as the rest of the series. |
