tystnaden (the silence) (1963)
holy smokes, how wonderful. as soon as it was over, i watched it again. one of the few bergman films i hadn't yet seen, and it pretty much just shot right up there with my favorites. a starkly surreal, spiritual drama involving two estranged sisters, an innocent boy, troubadour dwarves, and a kindly (yet creepy) hotel porter, among other things. highly, highly recommended
