Many things.

But let me start by saying, that with the Director and the huge amount of great actors, i coulnd´t help but having pretty big expectations to Sin City.



First of all, i thought the lead characters was very much alike except for their physics. All cool without many feelings. It got tiresome to listen to their monotonous, numb thoughts throughout the entire movie.

Second. The storyline reminded me alot of "Pulp fiction", very smart ass, just without any good dialogue. The story wasn´t that good and i didn´t get the intro and the last seconds of the movie. With other words, i didn´t get Josh Hartnett´s part in it? When the credits finaly came rolling i sat with an empty feeling inside. Like the credits came before the movie was entirely over.

Third. I liked the cartoon universe wich reminded me of a dark version of "Dick Tracy". I liked Elija Wood and Nick Stahl´s characters wich were wonderfully weird and colorful. Sadly there wasn´t more characters like them. But explain to me why ALL women in Sin City had to look like porno supermodels and had to be half/fully naked. It was degrading to look at and really irritated me. (I´m not a "Charlies angels" fan)

The possitive things about Sin City was the originality, the effects, the enviroment, the entertainment, and Elija Wood.

This is a good case for doing a bit of research on a movie you are about to see.
The nudity for Sin City was tuned waaayyy down from what it was supposed to be.

Giving it a 7/10 based on your reasoning is like giving star wars a 7/10 because you dont like sci-fi.

considering that it was directly based on a violent sexy graphic novel .. and was co directed by the author of that graphic novel ... thus completely faithful to the content of that graphic novel ... it was definately a 10.

Not knowing the story it's based on isnt really grounds for dismissing it..

Well, it´s true that i haven´t recearched before seeing this movie. Excuse moi. And it´s true that i haven´t read the comic book. But despite of those flaws i think i´m just as entitled to give my point of view on this movie as you are. It might be that this movie was made just right, compared to the comic book, but if i didn´t find it fantastic i don´t see why i should rate it as a clean 10?

I´m a movie buff, not a comic buff. And watching it as a movie and not a comic book obviously makes me look at it in another way than you do.

i can understand how it might not be someone's cup of tea (too violent, too dark, etc) but it was your particular reasoning that i thought was weird, not the fact that you didnt think it was perfect ...

and yes, everyone is entitled to give their point of view ... and counterpoint :)
