Made all the cruel things that kept happening more digestible, i thought. I'm not very hardcore. :o
I thought it said something more along the lines of; "Look, you know this family can't win now, these killers have all the power. You're still watching though aren't you?".

Really?

It took the "reality" out of the movie, that's what it did.

That too but he wanted to comment on violence in cinema and voyeurism, I think it was another technique he employed to touch on the subject. That's just how I feel about it. I really don't think it was the director trying to ease the audiences anxiety. Either way the scene really did seem misplaced in what seemed to be a very gritty and difficult to swallow film. Come to think of it though, this movie has sparked a lot of conversation...

House of Whipcord.

Surprisingly, this is a great film. Shelia Keith is great.

Understandable.

It's up there with Ireversible.

Both really unpleasant movies.

Stealth.

Must admit I liked it a bit more this time around, than my initial viewing. It was just a tad more than being a Firefox clone. Interesting CGI too.

le samouraļ (1967)

classic. i've always been able to watch this one over and over.

persepolis (2007)

an enchanting coming-of-age tale involving a young iranian girl growing up in wartime. certainly recommended to anyone that loves a plain old great story (and to anyone that appreciates fresh, eye-opening animation).

Near Dark.

The ending is trite and predictable, but the premise is interesting and there were some very good performances, particularly Lance Henrikson. I enjoyed it.
