I haven't tried 7, but I've had Vista pretty much since it came out. I think it gets a bad wrap. I haven't had any problems with it at all. Now my Comcast Cable internet on the other hand... Nothing but problems, but the Vista's worked fine for me thus far.

I doubt I'll be upgrading unless I hear of an improvement that leads me to believe 7 is substantially better than Vista.

Over the years I've adopted a 'wai and let them fix the shit' approach to new versions of Windows. When the new version comes out there are always bugs, but the major issue is compatability with programs. While this isn't Microsoft's problem, it still takes awhile for software vendors to put out new drivers for all of the gadgets and programs that we use on a daily basis.

As a guy who is constantly tinkering with electronics (pc, game systems, home theater), I did find Vista far too 'big brother-ish' in the beginning. My main pc is running XP Pro still, and the new laptop is running Vista Home Premium.
Tax return time means the building of a new main rig, and I'll more than likely be trying out Vista 64bit on that one.

I ramble....I ramble....
Long story short;
I've gotten used to Vista like I got used to XP after awhile.
Windows 7 is actually the only OS update that I can recall looking forward to.

Only problem I've seen with Vista is when you install it on a machine and develop driver conflicts, other than that it's been pretty stable. Granted it took them a little while to work the bugs out but it seems like a viable OS now. Haven't tried 7 and I doubt I will, but I'm sure my next PC will come with it.

Virus problem.

Well, I downloaded personal antivirus today and it turns out that's one big virus. I was wondering if anyone knew about a free spyware/addware remover download, they could link me to, so i can get rid of it. Thanks alot.

Are you sure you want to download more free software? How bad is the virus? What does it do?

It just says my computer is under constant attack of viruses. Also, really annoying pop-ups telling me about them, and now, my computer is running very slowly.

One place I was told about for free anti-virus software that was reliable was www.avast.com. Hope it works.

1 - Stop by Trend Micro Housecall first.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

2 - Then download Ad Aware and Spybot, update them and run. Both of them will flush away any annoying remnants.

All of them are free.
