"Tower Of London" (1962)
-Vincent Price Plot: IMDB On the death of his brother King Edward IV, Richard of Gloucester conspires to get the thrown for himself. The late King had two young sons, his heir, Edward V and the younger Prince Richard, but they are not of age and so names his other brother, Clarence as Lord Protector of the Realm. Gloucester soon kills his younger brother but is haunted by his ghost and what he has done. As he continues to kill those around him, Gloucester is haunted by those he has betrayed hearing voices and slowly descending into madness. He spreads rumors that the late King's two sons are illegitimate and therefore not eligible to ascend to the throne. He assassinates the young princes and is crowned King Richard III. The ghosts from his past have the final say however. Phantom's Review: MURDER! MADNESS! GHOSTS! LUST FOR POWER! All this and one hell of a great performance from Vincent Price. Lavish by Roger Corman standards, this is an effective, atmospheric thriller. All the cast does a fine job, but Price just knocks it out of the park. A highly entertaining film. |

"Curse Of The Crimson Altar" *(1968) AKA "The Crimson Cult"
-Boris Karloff, Christopher Lee Plot: IMDB When his brother disappears, Robert Manning pays a visit to the remote country house he was last heard from. While his host is outwardly welcoming - and his niece more demonstrably so - Manning detects a feeling of menace in the air with the legend of Lavinia Morley, Black Witch of Greymarsh, hanging over everything. Phantom's Review: Despite the great talents of Karloff, Lee and Micheal Gough and Barbara Steele (as a green faced witch), this film.... well. sucks. The actors all do a fine job, but the story just plods along and not a whole lot happens. A film far beneath the talents of those involved. -- |

I have to disagree with you on this one, phantom. Plenty of atmosphere and creepy goings on. I like it just fine!
