I love retro gaming, the Castlevania games on Nes and Snes are great, I also love Solstice, Adventures of Lolo, Final Fantasy to many games to mention really.

They have made new clone machines for both Nintendo and Sega games, you can not get machines which run both Master system and megadrive for allot cheaper than an actual real machine would cost and you still then pay with cartridges.

The snes is my favorite console to date. Though I did pick up a ps3, I still prefer older games like Ogre Battle and Metal Marines. I even play old pc games using a dos emulator.

Older games more often had to base themselves on gameplay rather than graphics to make them sell. I prefer Playstation 1 and newer just for the fact that what I play I play for the story and storyline just is more important in games these days. However there are some really good retro games.

If you do dos emulating have you ever tried a game named D? This is a horror game about a woman who is sent to a hospital where her father, a doctor have murdered the patients and sealed himself inside, the main character then have to solve plots and find clues and navigate a supernatural horror environment to get to the truth. I found the game very entertaining.

Great to see so many great games mentioned here. I just have to say that Shining Force 2 is even better than the first an absolutely awesome game. Check out Tales Of Phantasia on the SNES (I think this is its title) the ultimate in top down scrolling RPG's truly outstanding and RPG fans idea of heaven.

Agreed - this stuff is where its at.

Cant remember if it was on here or if one of my friends showed me, but awhile ago I saw a combination system for sale online...I think it had ports for NES, SNES, Genesis and N64 cartridges, if I recall correctly. I've found few similar things online, but not a lot that really looked legit. Anyone have a links to something like this? I'd love to pick one up if they're worth it.

I've heard this multi console is ok. Emulation is the way to go if you're not like me and actually want the physical carts. Get a wired XBox 360 controller and you can use it for SNES, NES, Genesis, arcade, N64 and more. :)

I have a Snes, a Megadrive and a Master system but my Nes is broken. I have considered a close system with a multi cart option so I can play my Nes games again and also play American Sega Genesis and Snes games. I also have a clone famicom, a 2600 which do not want to work and a Commodore 128. I have gameboy, Lynx and Sega Game Gear, though I do not use the Game Gear and the Lynx allot.

I remember slime world on the lynx.

I guess you'd probably be able to call this semi-retro by now.
The other day I got my old PS1 back from my brother who is no longer using it...I have wanted for AGES to play Crash Team Racing again - in my opinion they just haven't made another game of this time (post Mario/CTR anyway) that is as fun to play, no matter how much better they "look".
LOVE the 2 player battles in this, and the standalone game is pretty great too.

Also switched on a copy of "Mortal Kombat Trilogy" and then "Mortal Kombat 4", wow, mk4 really is the starting point of where things went to shit for me...MKT is great to play, reasonable but not killer difficulty level, and just...more fun and better to look at. I have to say, this new MK game that is done more in the style of the older titles looks pretty interesting. Here's hoping it's half decent.

I have coordination difficulties due to Aspergers Syndrome so I was actually recommended to play computer games by my doctor. However it makes me suck at them so for me while I agree the old school Mortal Combat had more flair, they where their own thing and not now that they are on of a number of 3D style arena fighters, for my own sake I am kind of glad for the drop of difficulty as it means I can actually play them, though I did have some fun with one of the Super Nintendo Mortal Combat games back in the day but as it was a rental I do not remember which one it was. I have not looked at the retro looking new MK game yet, but I am planning to.
