Neither Pirates nor punks are known for respecting other people's property.

I always found that in those kinda trusting/DIY/anarcho punk scenes there were always a few cunts who had no problem abusing other peoples trust.

You really can't put a lot of faith in a punk rock scene. Its a pretty "dog eat dog" world. Most punks I've known were out for #1(other than the wishy-washy hippie punk wannabes). My advice would to keep on truckin and a little less nieve.

Hah, I see where you are coming from, but you've got it all wrong.

At least here in Idaho, our scene is tight and we have no problem with local bands.

The Pyrate Punx function like a promotional group, to put it simply, not everyone involved is the super anarcho, DIY, "I wear more belts than you" type.

The Pyrate Punx bands (or at least most of them) try to dissolve the super destructive stereotypes of punk rockers in general. It's pretty big globally, and worth checking out if you are into that sort of thing. Chances are you have a chapter near you!

I think even if you were a part of a group of barbershop quartets, you would have encountered a similar problem. The world is full of backstabbers and malicious jerks. I'm really sorry that happened to you.

The thing is that barbershop quartets don't have an attached philosophy where its more than just about the music..

I'm not entirely sure what the motive was; sabotaging the competition or mindless violence?

Perhaps, sabotaging the violence or mindless competition?

Oh yeah, too bad about your gear. Sounds like a bunch of useless little tossers trying to hard to be 'punk'. Punk was always about the disenfranchised banding together to attack the establishment, not banding together then sneakily fucking up eachothers shit... if memory serves.

Finally, if you're a big punk fan, I got to see The Damned last year in Belfast. Dave Vanian and Capt. Sensible were there but no Rat Scabies. :(

It wasn't even a competition...the dudes who wrecked our gear were self admitted tweakers....
