Never read a book, looking for suggestions

There are a lot of good books and you've listed some of the best there are. The Shining is a classic and It is a masterpiece but if you're only starting off I wouldnt recommend it. Salem's Lot is a good one as is Coldheart Canyon by Clive Barker. If you want a quick and easy read try Richard Laymon. Brian Lumley is also very good. Problem with looking is that most sites you have to go searching. Try www.flamingteeth.com. They specialise in horror science fiction and fantasy. I've been using them for the past few months and they're very good. haven't been around very long but definately worth a look. They know what they're talking about.
