gremlins.. the monsters from the guyver movies.. villians from the he-man cartoon.. critters... ghoulies from part 1 vampire.. the gingerdead man.. predator.. ....and what not....

When I was a kid, I was told some Scottish folktales, therefore had nightmares about horrific nighthag creatures. The Black Annis is one of the oldest, best and scariest of monsters, wanting nothing more than to strip the skin from little children and devour them. After that, I discovered Time Life's the Enchanted World books and learned about all kinds of abominations. My favorites from the movies are Godzilla, Hedorah, Gigan, the Harryhausen Medusa, the vampire in London After Midnight, the Karloff Frankenstein, whatever the thing from Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell is and some of the Final Fantasy bosses.

I love folk tale monsters.
Russalkas are freaking creepy; they are spirits of girls who died violent deaths in water. the original story i read about them said if a person looked into the pool a Russalka inhabited, they would see her reflection over their shoulder. she would appear dead with glowing green pinpoints in her eyes. if you made eye contact, she grabbed you by the hair and dragged you underwater and drowned you. I also always liked Baykok, a spirit in the great lakes region that looked like a skeleton covered in translucent skin with glowing red eyes that would kill warriors and eat their liver. I also read a description that said they would cut a man open with surgical precision, eat part of their liver, then sew them back up to die a long painful death. On a more modern note, any of the spirits, and pretty much anything that happens in the "spirit world" in FEAR scares the hell out of me.

not a monster in the classical sense, but Big Daddies from Bioshock are awesome.
I have always beena big fan of lovecraft's creations, so of course Cthulhu, but also Nyarlathotep, shoggoths and Mi-Go. And who can forget brother Whatley from Dunwich Horror?
