there is definitely a difference. So they used utility knives?

'm sure it has been decades since any of them have sdone anythign that would necessitate a tool of any kind.

A boxcutter is a razor blade in a handle, a utility knife is a razor blade in a handle. But outside of shipping services, I've never heard anybody call one a boxcutter.
