But, the scene serves to illustrate that a normal activity, which typically should give a person no problem or cause for alarm (buying groceries), suddenly becomes difficult, confusing, and tedious. And uncomfortable, and alienating. Your credit card isn't where it used to be. Time speeds up and slows down. You see? This is no ordinary grocery store--this is the one in their new neighborhood which you found when you got off the train.

I would say that your mind was turning over some feelings of uncomfortability about your folks, and the "new neighborhood" is a symbol of some emotional distancing taking place which you have started to feel.

Again, it's not necessarily something that's actually happening in your life, but your mind is considering the idea of it, for some reason.

Damn.. That's pretty deep, Crab.

Still, i don't have a problem with my mom or stepdad. Not that i can think of.

But yea, it would sure suck if they moved. Then i would be all alone. But it's not something that i ever worry about, coz it won't happen in a near future
. :)

I often have dreams like that. What does that mean?

By the way people, please feel free to post your dreams.

I said, "That's not very nice." and suddenly, a tall, thin, cartoony woman with long dark hair and a long black dress (Like mortitia addams) comes in, slaps me then grabs my wrist.
She starts leading me away and I scream through the door to my dads study but he just says "I'm busy, stop messing about!" Next thing I know, I'm infront of a green curtain which I pull open and there's an attic through there, but not mine. In the middle, all sitting around a table are my mum, my sister, my half sister and my half brother, playing monopoly. They turn and my brother says "Lets help him!". The curtain closes and I wake up.

Amazing how much you remember from your childhood, ferret.

But basically your dream is about how much your entire family hates your guts and couldn't care less if some stranger takes you away. And deep inside you've always known that.
And the small leprechaun is actually alive and lives under your bed. The cartoony woman is in fact your very own mother who's sick and tired of you watching too much tv and most of all horror movies. She's not real tho, she's from a popular tv show.....

Well again, this grocery store in the dream was in their neighborhood. Meaning, you attempted to go about your business within their new situation. Your difficulty in the store is your nervousness about being able to function properly once their situation changes.

Dreams are generally not interpretable literally; they must be decoded. Dreams pull up thinking that is in your subconscious mind and play it, like a movie, in a veiled, symbolic format that you can only understand through interpretation. So, while consciously you may believe one thing is true, subconsciously you may feel otherwise. You are looking at thoughts that consciously, in your waking life, you tend not to be aware of. By analyzing your dreams, you can gain insight into how your own mind is working under the surface.

It's not likely at all, then, that your dream is literally about them "moving" to a new neighborhood. The "moving" is probably symbolic of something else. I think it represents some other sort of distance that you feel will be separating you at some point. Remember the whole business about having to make a special trip to see them; clearly their new distance in the dream is an important detail. Once you get into the neighborhood, what happens? You try to buy some groceries and find the experience impossible and disturbing. So that clues you in to how you might feel about this "distance" between you.

It's pretty simple. Dreams never mean what they are at face value. They are what you are thinking about, but in code. You are worried about death because you don't know what happens on the other side; so you have a dream about a dark street that you are afraid to walk down. And so on. The dream paints a picture of what you are thinking, but you must figure out what each symbol means.

For me, the first thing I think about when interpreting a dream is, how do I feel in the dream? Happy, sad, nervous, unsure? The feelings are usually the first key to figuring out what the dream is about.

You have a dream about your mom and stepdad moving to another neighborhood. It might be a dream about them growing older and their age causing them (and you) difficulty. Your problems buying food for them might symbolize your difficulties taking care of them.

I knew something was up when you started describing the scene in the grocery store. It meant you were concerned about your own ability to function in a difficult new situation.

Yes, i see and understand what you're saying. I just can't relate to your analysis. Sure i'm worried about stuff in real life and i've never liked difficult new situations. But 1 thing i'm fairly sure of is that i've never worried a whole lot about my mom these past 15 years. They're doing quite well.

I don't remember being happy or sad about the situation in my dream. I only remember being annoyed about the slow customer.

True. I would post this on Zero's thread but I don't like making two consecutive posts on the same thread. I post on 99% of the threads that are bold (a new post has been made). But anyway, I can't find the noose so this plastic bag will have to do.
