I think the animal thing depends on the context. Somebody I know went on mission in Africa and they thanked their group by bringing in a goat, killing it, and then preparing them dinner from it. Killing animals for entertainment escapes me though, probably because I don't find anything entertaining or really shocking about it. It's simply filler to me. I think a lot of the really bad ones have been mentioned but Izo and the full length version of Dumplings don't usually get any mention.

Nothing that I remember, I was just commenting on animal death in movies... rambling really. Izo was a litte disturbing though. The whole hidden sword thing really made me shake my head. You'll see...

If you want to see animal abuse in a Miike film there's always Gozu.

What I found most disturbing about this one was the terrible acting.

Anyway, I second Cutting Moments. No other film has ever affected me as much.

Yes, Aftermath is actually very well made. Sure, the subject matter is extreme, but it does make you think, and it is well constructed.

The most disturbing horror film I've ever seen besides the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original) is -

Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer.

There are so many violent and non-violent scenes that are truly messed up, because of the reality of the situations.

To plug my own movie, if you like the Henry kind of situational reality (more than cheesy things jumping out at you) you'll appreciate "Us Sinners". It is sick, demented, disturbing and out and out politically incorrect. (That's right I'm plugging myself)
