i think its all about perspective. when you are young - the future is really the only thing you have - so everything is focused on what you will do, where you will go. . .

as one gets older those "wills" are replaced with "haves" - what you have done, where you have gone. and those 'haves' seem to pile up fairly quickly (too quickly)

You're so right...I never thought about it that way...very interesting:)

And everyone else, thanks for taking the time to respond...you all brought so much perspective on this subject...

Nova, you're right...the physical aspect of aging definately isn't pleasant ;) However, as we age, we gain insights etc that are invaluable...there are benefits that cannot be gained from youth:)

Mags-So true...I try to tell myself to live in the moment, and enjoy it...but it's definately something that's hard for me to do. I feel as though I'm always looking toward the future, and by doing so...I end up rushing parts of my life away...it's something I'm trying to get a grip on, and learn how to handle better :)

em thinking that maybe theres an age where time slows down..
then a certain age where it speeds up
then the final age where time slows down again..
its as if the world is rotating faster and faster..(this sounds kinda stupid)
but em thinking...maybe its nearing the end for all of mankind.
like a umm umm....'wots that word'

SIF..when i remember i will post it up..

on that note what you posted novak..
('sniff' which was beautiful btw)

if you could change just one thing in your life..what would it be..
either an event..umm..a mistake...
anything...??

theres too many for me to list right now..will get back to ya's on that note too..

I wouldn't change a thing.
Bad,good any of it.

welllll......
maybe I wouldn't have tanned so much in my early 20's.

If I had known what I know now...this is just a fantasy-I would have:
1.)Never bothered with so much school only to never end up finishing anything.

2.)I would have travelled-everywhere.

3.)I would have painted till my hands fell off and my eyeballs cracked while I still had the talent and tried to actually get my work looked at by galleries.

4.)Even though I have fingers left when I count my lovers,I would have only slept with 2 (they are the only ones that were worth my time)

5.)I would have walked away one particular day in my life and never looked back.

6.)I would have said everything I needed to say, especially the words"I'm sorry".

7.)I would have spent alot more time with my great uncle...who knew he wouldn't live forever?

Fantasy for the future, which I could make into reality:
1.)Make sure my girls are never like me,and never regret their decisions because they were made for the good of their soul and not because of what others want of them.

2.)To one day have some peace inside myself.

If I could slow time to a crawl I would. I hate thinking to myself, "Wow, an hour just isn't enough time to get this done." An HOUR! An hour's a long fuckin' time, and it just aint enough... And I'm not lookin' forward to getting out of college... and y'know, living life. Not yet.
