One pretty common trend I'm noticing here is that we're all pretty much in agreement that the series started off better than where it's at right now. Excluding #3, everyone pretty much has it going in numeric order with the exception of a movie here or a movie there. Safe to say Halloween started off good and has been going consistently downhill ever since? (Although I liked H2O.)

Sequels might keep bringing in more money, but they never seem to bring in any quality or new ideas.
To all of the other filmmakers here, past present and future, do yourself and your fans a favor. If you come up with a gem of a horror movie that everyone loves because it scared the hell out of them, don't tarnish it's reputation with sequels !

Yo Ck...

I know you work on films pretty regularly. Is that your full time job? Also, what do you do? Camera? Direct? Write?

It's more than a job, it's an adventure ! ok. I heard that somewhere LOL
For the last 4 days I'm doing Foley (sound fx) work. When I'm satisfied with that (first 2 1/2 days I ended up hating), I'll finally edit the scene from 3+ hours of footage (1 of actual actors, 2 secondary). This is for a film of mine currently. No, I don't "star" in it since a lot of indie horror films I see have a tendency to be vehicles for the "look at me crowd !".
My credits (from most to least) are composer, editor, sound, boom operator, actor, director, writer, PA, gaffer, makeup fx, driver and crane operator (yes, a real crane on a real set for some HBO movie, not some throw together one in someone's backyard epic LOL). The last movie I worked on set for earned me the nickname '10-in-1 Chris, the Swiss Army knife of filmmaking' since I'm constantly doing something on set (and apparently can get it done LOL). Learn as much as you can on other people's sets since it can only help your productions later.
I get hired mostly for music and sound by other companies since it's a long, thankless task. After a few false starts over the last 2 years, I've finally gotten a solid team of local cast and crew assembled around me that have the same interests in making quality horror films that put the scares first and not just the quick "blood and boobs" route that overpopulate the genre. We have another short after the current one, plus 2 features already planned out through the summer. I'll see what happens from there.

..I have a feeling that people who say that sequels suck hasnt watch them all.....some are saying: "the first two was ok but the rest sucked" ....thats just not believable (...every time !) ...so watch them first :D

No one had to watch all the 'Weekend At Bernie's' sequels to correctly guess they sucked, so why sit through 90 minutes of crap to finally be able to say "Yep. It was crap alright" ? :D I've seen plenty of sequels and stand by my choice of 'Toy Story 2' and 'Godfather 2' being only worthy of the originals. Oh and 'The Road Warrior' LOL
