Those are some pretty neat fish, where do they come from? Are they freshwater?

They are freshwater fish, from South America, IIRC. They really are pretty cool, but unfortunately, they've been banned in my state. I haven't kept a freshwater tank in some time, but I'd consider getting one of those if I ever did again.
