According to the commentaries:
28 Days Later, they run fast because they are all raving lunatics. They dont feel much, and all they want to do is kill. Pretty straight foward Dawn of the Dead 2004. They made the zombies run.... Because the director wanted to be different, and he thought it was scary There is no mystery or secret inspiration. Achem's Razor: The simplest explanation is usually the correct one.
