Again, anyone with any brains can simply scroll through the thread and find your conclusions as desperate as your need to nurture hysteria from your bandwagon. The terrorists have already beaten you, in your mind and soul if not physically. Back to the unfortunate Police slaying, one wonders what may have been the last thing to go through Mr de Menezes' head before he died, apart from the 8 bullets it took to ensure his brain signals were properly severed. "Jeez, these crazy English sure take an expired visa awful serious!" ? According to the Police Commissioner, the trigger finger is liable to keep pumping... in situations like this. As was pointed out on TV last night, it was the Police who gave themselves no choice but to execute their new shoot-to-kill policy - by not apprehending their suspect sooner (i.e. in the street, on the bus, entering the tube station) and ensuring the train was his only exit. |

It seems this Police execution issue is raging in social circles like pubs at the moment, with empathy for victim Mr de Menezes and condemnation of the Police coming mostly from the women, while men take the stoic stance that he shouldn't have ran, that they could take no chances, that them terrorist bastards are everywhere man.
Nothing new here of course, since as soon as violent news reaches us many egotistical armchair generals and politicians are keen to exploit the situation by explaining to the lesser masses how Smart Bombs work, what RPG stands for, how brain signals are severed with 8 facial bullets. Perhaps the dubious cocktail of watching too many movies and absorbing newspaper opinions is responsible. Who knows? If one good thing is to come out of the death of this man, perhaps it will be that any potential suicide bomber might think twice about slipping past such trigger happy cops - after all, look at what they did to that innocent guy from Brazil!? Perhaps Mrs de Menezes can take comfort from this. |
