If we were talking about most influential, it would have to be The Three Stooges - that goes without saying.

Personal preference tips the scales in Leslie Nielsen's favor for me though...nothing against the Stooges (though some of their later stuff is pretty bad), but Nielsen's brand of humor is more my style.

6-2-0, Leslie Nielsen completes a rather surprisingly easy win in the end.

as far as this tournament being rediculous - well they are all rediculous ... people voting against each other on what they like and people getting insensed when it doesnt go their way makes no sense.

i think Norm Macdonald is the funniest guy of all time .. everything he does makes me laugh - harder than anyone - ANTONE else is able to do - for what must obviously be very personal reasons - to me. what anyone else thinks about that doesnt mean shit to me other than to have a nice little conversation about it.

also for the record .. this should have been split between movie comedians and stand up comedians to be fair.
we've been comparing apples and oranges.
Too bad I wasn't online before to reply to this.

Calling a tournament ridiculous would be a direct insult to the people voting in it. Don't get me wrong here, but the democratic way of finding the winner has been established for some time now, i.e., elections. I find the tournaments a simple and easy way of passing the time with people putting in their opinions for what it's worth. Many a time they are the only threads which keep the General Forum alive. At least the activity in these threads keeps the place from going completely dead, which is what I would prefer.

As for choosing, everyone has their own opinions or choices, that is what makes the world so colorful. Someone wins, someone loses. It's all part of the game. People thought John McCain was the better candidate for President, but Obama won it. Supporters of McCain would feel incensed and dejected, but they accepted the result and moved on. That doesn't make McCain any different, does it?

I will agree on one point which Urge has raised here. Deciding not to vote just because others do not agree with you, now that is ridiculous. Like everyone, you have a opinion too so feel free to put it forth. If they agree with you, fine. If they don't, no sweat. It's your opinion.

I am with Groucho for this match.

oh - i believe you were online all along :)

the tournaments are for fun - i understand that ..

my point about being rediculous was that in something this subjective there is really no wrong or right. whatever you like is whatever is right for you.
we base our likes/dislikes on very personal criteria (unless you're a sheep)

so i was looking at the big picture .. from this tournament on up to the oscars - and it was also a reflection on getting mad enough not to vote because even though the person you wanted to win did win - you still got so insensed that ANYONE AT ALL opposed your view - you had to quit ...
to me thats pretty funny - and disturbing at the same time.

but as far as this place goes - the tournaments - as i said - are for fun .. it wasnt an intent to reflect badly on the people who participated (i participated myself - right ? :)
