Weed out all the remakes for a start-no best of the decade is going to have any credibility with them in there-they prove rather than disprove that "modern horro sucks" never mind replacing them-that could be in the long term.

On another note I actually liked Saw 2 but I understand the hatred towards it.

There are fans who liked some of the remakes - RZ's Halloween & TCM, and some of the Hollywood remakes of Asian films are the reason why Asian horror became popular in the first place.

Saw II is also a member of the HDC Top 100, so I don't understand the hate for it either.

A double edged sword. But I am open to suggestions.

Also willing to do some editing of the 250, provided I am permitted to do so by the team members who sat down and hammered out the compilation between themselves.

As much as I have been griping about remakes, I have to disagree about eliminating all the remakes on the list. I know most, if not all, of the remakes are inferior to the original, but some of them are quite good in their own right.

Also, I would not like to see The Ring, a film that introduced a mainstream audience to J-Horror, eliminated.

Got the green light from some of the jury members. Waiting on some more before I roll out the editing process.

Thumbs up from everyone I contacted, and so the compilation stands slightly modified from the original one posted yesterday.

This should be a solid list, and should stand the test of time for awhile.

Very clinical editing, bro! Now it looks a new one...really fresh & fantastic!

Wow! There are again some more films that I need to search down soon & watch:
Sauna
Love Object
Malefique
The Hole
Call of Cthulhu
Black Water

Glad you add the followings:
Next Door
Calvaire (aka) The Ordeal
In My Skin
Orphan
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
The Loved Ones
Trouble Every Day
Lunacy

And also again:D...bit surprised by this entries:
Case 39
A Perfect Getaway
Hunger
Wind Chill

TCM remake has been removed from the "Official HDC Top 200 Of The 2000s"...A sad day for me. :(

Btw, have anyone seen The Uncertain Guest (2004)? Just downloaded it last night as it was directed by the same guy who directed Julia's Eyes. Hope to see it soon.

Big thanks to all the last-minute contributors I PMed in the past couple days and got plenty of prompt replies and recs back from them almost immediately.

We will have to agree to disagree on this. Believe it or not I did somehow sit through some of those remakes and I personally did not think as standalone films they were any good anyway. Hills Have Eyes for example was turned into a standard action flick with none of the mania that characterised the original.

Don't get me started on the pinnacle of ultimate evil that is The Ring. I think it did the opposite of what you suggested and actually turned people against japanese horror originals. I've lost count of how many times I showed people the original Ringu which they dismissed as being inferior as "its not as graphic or exciting as the hollywood remake" they claimed. The same can be said for The Grudge etc. No one I know who likes the remakes more than the japanese originals has got into japanese horror. If a film has subtitles or is considered "slow" it will never be accepted by mainstream audiences who demand that films are dumbed down so they don't have to use their brains while watching a film.
