Ive only seen 1 of Shimizu's films, but the rest of his films cant be anywhere near good enough to beat my personal favourite horror director.

John Carpenter.

Question - Is William Castle in this?

William Castle? - Yep.

jacques tourneur? - No.

terence fisher? - Yep.

tod browning? - Yep.

james whale? - Yep.

mario bava? - Yep.

Uwe Boll? - Uh, no. House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark & BloodRayne are not enough to earn yourself consideration for the title of best horror director.

Round 1 - Match 11

Herschel Gordon Lewis - Blood Feast, 2000 Maniacs, Color Me Blood Red, A Taste for Blood, The Wizard of Gore, The Gore Gore Girls (aka Blood Orgy), Blood Feast 2: All You Can Eat

Tod Browning - Dracula (1931), Freaks, The Devil Doll, Dracula (1966)

Both of these directors have dozens of other non-horror films as well so be sure to check out their profiles at imdb.com if you want more info.

First one to 7 wins....

Browning - the architect of the American horror film and, if i might be so bold, the person who should without a doubt win this competition (though he's not my favourite director)
