But, as I thought about it I realized the film was making a really great political point and so I walked out really loving the film.

Needless to say, lots of people I know felt let-down by the film and I've felt this desire to champion the film.

As for Austin's point about "quality" - to be honest I don't really know what "sacrificing quality" would mean. Really, I think of this film was either more "frightening" or more "action-packed" it would undermine the whole point. (A bit like Natural Born Killers, which apparently was meant to be a critique of violence in media but ended up glorifying its object of critique).

But, of course, everyone leaves a film with their personal feeling - I'm not meaning to say anyone's opinion is right/wrong/better/worse - just that I saw the film differently and wanted to argue for it.

**note: no siggy**

Sacrificing quality basically means.....

You blend your message into the film, you don't blend the film into your message.

Yeah, I'm a bit spread out lately when it comes to message boards. I have 2 of my own that I'm on regularly, I'm on the one for my webhost, I'm on Friday the 13th Forums a lot, and of course xmike (I've mentioned it in the past I think). So yeah, I'm message boarded to death :P

But, seeing as you are still here, I shall have to come back more often. :)

Good Choices! Lol!

HAHA! Gigli was terrible and the rest mentioned better not be remade, grrr! Lotr are fine,well-made films; The Return Of The King is the best of all! Dawn Of The Dead, even the latest one are(which was very frightening,to me )are done well. I have not seen Land Of The Dead, but it might be time for George Romero to take a hiatus from zombies, try something different, maybe flesh-eating vegetables, lol! :D

i saw Gigli with the lowest possible expectations ... and i didnt hate it.

then again i didnt pay any attention to the j-low/ben offscreen bullshit so it didnt colour my view (and if you dont think that was a huge part of the opinion on the film you're crazy)

i've never hated Ben Aflect (spelling ?) - how could i - he keeps popping up in Kevin Smiths films ..

and Lopez - i think she's a fine actor and one of the most physically beutiful people on the planet ...

if they are both assholes on their own time - i couldnt give a shit - they dont live in my house.

it wasnt that bad a film.
It has a bad name and it featured a couple of people who the media and fans built up just so they could tear them down again.

it had no bearing on the film.

movie let downs

maybe its just me but I thought House of A Thousand Corpses was an extreme let down. Not the slightest bit of originality was put into that piece of shit. The Grudge was another let down, what the hell was the movie really about. The Darkness suck major ballsbut I didn't expect nothing from it,so I guess thats not a let down. The Exorcist prequel was horrible too.The last movie I saw that I enjoyed that had a horror element to it was The Ring.
