S'mornin, I watched "Boogymen:The Killer Compilation" again, this time w/ commentary by Robert Englund.

I also watched "The Jackals", an old Vincent Price western [Yes, you did read that right]. I thought it was pretty decent, nothing spectacular. Kinda neat seeing good ol' VP in something this...different.

"Bang-Rajan" - Superbly crafted, historical Thai film about a village holding out against the invading Burmese army.
Lots of ultra-violent, bloody and sometimes gory battle scenes (a bit too much shaking camera work but not too bad) and a simple but stron, emotional, story.

It's biggest failing (at least from Western eyes, and i've seen many many Japanese and Hong Kong films) is that except for really 6 main characters EVERYONE looks the same! Including the women!
Very similar features, exact same hairstyles, exact same facial hair, exact same build and exactly the same clothes!
As such it can be very hard to figure out who just died (or not) and you wonder if you had actually seen them in the movie before they died!

But that aside this is an astonishing achievemnt for such a small film industry and is wonderfully acted throughout and looks amazing.
The finale is a brutal and bloodymasterwork and shows up how vapid and stodgy something like "Braveheart" is.

Just seen "The machinist".

I liked it very much.

Love those kind of movies where you´re wondering what the hell is going on and have to wait until the very end for the answer to be revealed.
And of course Christian Bale was excellent... As usual.:D

The Corpse Vanishes, a run-of-the-mill Lugosi flick, starring Bela as a mad scientist who steals the corpses of brides to keep his ageing wife beautiful. Not bad, enjoyable...but not great.
