The Secret Life of Walter Mitty ..

Loved this movie … had no idea Ben Stiller directed it … one of my favourite films in a long long time.

The Lone Ranger

No where near as bad as the horrible ad campaign made it look. It actually wasn't bad.
My kid loved it ..

The last movie I saw was Keith [2008] on Netflix and it made me cry. I'm the type of person who cries during romantic movies. I don't usually like romantic movies, I'm very picky whenever I watch them but this one stuck with me after I watched it. It made me cry in all honesty.

The last movie movie I saw in the theater was Saving Mr. Banks and again this movie made me cry during I watched it. Next movie I watch will definitely have to be a good comedy movie or a horror. Too much crying can wear a person out, haha!

Better than the average action movie.

The Dead

Re-watched this one. Still one of the better modern zombie films IMO. Slow burning and grim stuff.

Always good to see the independents giving the major studios a run for their money. There's been some good stuff from both camps but the indie guys stuff has more of a unique voice and stands out for me. Guess they can call their own shots a bit more.

yeah - you can do a lot more with a lot less … like the music thing .. you're a lot more creative when you're hungry and have to make the most of limited resources - it fuels the imagination and ingenuity

The genre sure could use some ingenuity. 2013 was a very mediocre year for horror IMO.

------------

Carrie (2013)

Julianne Moore was the highlight of this one giving a great performance as Carrie's mother. Thought they did a good job of making the character of Chris Hargensen completely unlikable too. I thought Moretz was way too attractive to pull off the weirdo loner outcast character but otherwise she gave a likeable performance that you could empathize with. They went a bit overboard with the CGI towards the end but that was to be expected. Entertaining enough but overall the film didn't bring anything new to the table only changing the story to the modern setting making this a slick but ultimately hollow reproduction of De Palma's film.

i'll always say - even at their worst - these things do serve to introduce the original films to new horror fans who do a little research
