Asked to wiegh in, so...
Just joined, not really up on the history of this issue, but I feel the entire argument is a moot point.
It would seem that some people are going to follow the rules and some aren't. We're dealing with a human nature issue here. I'm quite pleasantly surprised at the consistant level of intelligence and forethought of most of the posts on this forum. I'll try like hell to live up to it. I've not yet read anything that has come close to offending me. The random "attack" comes as part and parcel with an open forum. And of course, every so often someone's going act the fool - I'm sure I will- but, like it or not, it's going to happen. A "ban" does nothing but provoke the banned individual to return with greater vitriol. So you can ban and feed the fire, or you can be patient and not sweat the small stuff. Just my opinion, but what do I know? I'm an asshole.

Someone that isn't willing to respect others and the mods deserve to get baned. but the other people and the mods need to give that person the benifit of the doubt, that maybe they were taken the wrong way or maybe they're are having a hidiously bad day. I don't know, maybe I'm just too tolerant of people, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

I feel I've come alittle late to the party...
This is a hard topic to get straight. Bans won't really stop personal attacks and name calling. This an internet forum, it comes with the territory. Anonymity breeds assholes. As nice as it would be, not everyone will get along. Clashes will happen, and harsh word will be written. Where to draw the line.....I couldn't say, nor would I want to. I certainly don't envy your position. I personally don't care what anyone says about me. I take it with a grain of salt. No offence, but this forum and the people here are not that important in my life to get so worked up about. You all seem like nice people and I like being here, but for better or worse, I will most likely never meet any of you in 'real life'. We will never hang out and watch a movie together. I don't know if this is any help at all, but here it is anyway.....
