I need some movie advice!

Now, I'm starting to run out of ideas for movies to watch. Thing is, we here in Denmark don't see anywhere near half the releases you guys get. So, I probably missed out on a whole lotta action.

Anyway, I'm a fan of the movies that makes you jump. Preferably no older than mid 90's.

To give you a sense of what I thought were good films, here's a little list of movies I recall having enjoyed.

The Strangers, Haute Tension/Switchblade Romance, Vacancy, The Descent, Eden Lake, Timber Falls, The Hills Have Eyes.

Anyone got any ideas for movies I need to look up?

If you're not willing to go back further than the mid 90's then you aren't going to find a lot of great movies in the Horror genre.

Maybe you could check out Funny Games, session 9, Wrong Turn...

I know I'll be making enemies when I say this, but I prefer the ones that are 1995+

Now there's your problem, all the best and scariest movies are much older.

Some of my personal favourites are Suspiria and Deep Red. They're not recent but they are great. I just suggest that you open your mind to new things, because you're missing out on so much of the genre.

Oh and Black Christmas as suggested in your essay thread.

Well, you might be right. Pre 90's has just always been a dissapointment to me. Friday The 13th, Halloween, Nightmare On Elm Street. Oh, and the sequels.
Not that they we're all bad. They just didn't scare me. But I might have had a bad start going for the "oldies"

Anyway, i'll try to look up the ones you mentioned.

You'll be glad to hear I just stopped by my local shop and picked up Black Christmas. Looking forward to seeing it. And yes, I'll stay open minded.

Edit: I'll consider picking up Suspiria this week. I see it's only around 8$

sorry to say but..your not a true horror fan..
Horror fans watch anything in relation and make thier judgment from there..
to simply say 'you prefer no older than pre 90's' is like saying..you dont like ketchup on your burger..
the older movies paved the way for suspense and thrills..
you want to see movies that make you jump..??then i recomend you widen your search ..beyond the 90's.. ..
slasher films are boring...they dont work very hard on the storyline ..they put too much empathis on making the movie as gory as possible..more bloody..
which gets monotonous.

Well, that's all opinion. I actually enjoy the gore.

But yes, I should widen my search.

However, I was merely asking for titles, as I know I missed out. As I said, we don't see half the releases you guys do in the US. But they're around, I have usually just never heard of them. Hence my question of movies "alike" the ones mentioned.
