After the Nightmare...

Date: December 25, 2008
Time: around 3:30 AM

Except for the Ramadan time of a year, my intercom telephone doesn’t ring at this part of night. So when it rang I was quite certain that there is something very wrong happened in downstairs at my parents’ apartment. I answered the call & heard…”Please come down here quickly. Your mother is having severe chest pain & calling you to see her.” I ran down there and saw everybody was around her & she was breathing heavily & sweating. Moreover, she was mumbling my name & telling me to hold her hand. It was very emotional as well as painful situation for me. I couldn’t stand that anymore. So we didn’t waste anymore time and took her to the nearest hospital. This was the first time for us, cause my parents have never shown or had this kinda severe sickness before. Both of them were quite conscious about their health.
Anyways, when we reached to the hospital (it’s only 3 to 4 minute driveway from our home) after some check ups the doctor declared that “your mother have had a massive heart attack just after you brought down her here and so we are now going for a NGO gram test.” After the test they found a block on one of the major arteries of the left portion of her heart (& that stops the blood circulation), so they suggested putting a ‘ring’ there immediately to starts the circulation again. But they need our permission or concern for doing that. We naturally replied Please do whatever you need to do asap.
It took only 10 to 15 minutes and then they took us to a room where they shown the previous & current condition on a monitor where we got the scanning view of my moms’ heart and they said, “it’s now working all right. Everything is just fine. You brought her here just in time. If you delayed for half an hour then there would be some severe complications.”
But even the very next day she was still quite sick. The doctor said, “It’d take some time for the adjustments…so don’t worry.” And I think he was right, from the very beginning of the Friday morning to till now she is in pretty good shape and eagerly waiting for going back to our home. But the doctors put her under 72 hrs. observations. Hopefully within a day or two they’ll release her from the hospital but she’ll need to follow some balanced diets and routine check ups.

So for the last couple of days we were really had some tensed & tough time that keep us highly worried about our mom. Thanks to Almighty and all our well wishers for the support & courage they gave us to confront the situation in a right way.

Wow that was a real close call, Roshiq.

I am glad your mother is safe now and doing better. Hang in there, and give your family and your Mom as much support as you can right now. Things will improve soon.

Good, things could have taken a turn for the worse.
This is not a suddenly "over" thing though, you need to know she'll be prone to have it happen again - heart attacks, if not caused by extreme old age, are more often than not on account of poor health...so make sure she takes it seriously, and makes whatever life changes she needs to, because they usually get worse as it goes along.
Best of luck.

Wow roshiq, I'm very sorry to hear this happened, but very relieved to hear that your mom pulled through and is on the road to recovery. Be supportive and try to make sure she follows the doctor's orders for her aftercare and, like Phalanx said, any lifestyle changes that may be necessary.

Might not be a bad idea to have your dad get himself checked out too, you don't need any more surprises. Be sure and take care of yourself too. Sometimes, especially at times like this, it's easy to let your own health slide a bit and you need to stay healthy too.

Take care and let us know how she's doing when you have time.

We brought her home at today afternoon. She's now doing fine and very happy to be here with the family. The main doctor already told her yesterday that they'd release her very soon as her improvements are quite satisfactory. As she has always been pretty much health conscious, so she do quite reasonably understand about her condition and committed to follow all the doctors' order & prescriptions. But we all have to take very good care of her to make sure that she'll doing that in right way. She'll be under proper medical care & practices recommended by the doctor.
Like Phalanx, some of my good friends also already gave me an idea about the probable after treatment risks and required care for the 1st time attack. Some of them even already experienced the same kinda situation very closely in their own family before as I did. Even one of my uncle of maternal side already have bypass surgery for 3 times!
Anyways, let's hope for the best and many many thanks to all of you for your kind concern and suggestions. I'm truly glad to have such great friends in here at HDC.

Oh, Honey... I'm so sorry about what happened. That's tough - that's really tough. I'm glad that you guys took care of it when you did. I'm glad that she's at home.

Thoughts with you. *HUGS*
