Edit: OK. I've now said THAT sentence with BOTH versions of CAPITALIZATION so many times that it seems more appropriate with THAT. So THERE.

It can be, but you can't say that time can't widen our perspective on things. Film criticism has not existed for very long so our understanding of what can make a film great or what makes a film less than great or why another generation would label something great and this one not do so is evolving (and devolving as well sometimes). It's healthy to see what is sacred and what's a sacred cow. It's how culture evolves.

Yes.

It's not always the case, but far too often, the position of "contrarian" is adopted as if it's a legitimate stance just because it's contrary. Interestingly, the two groups most guilty of believing the "anti" stance has any substance in and of itself are hipsters and the Republican Party. Go figure.
