Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)
![]() http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097388/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 Some say this is one of the worst movies of the franchise, but if youre a big fan of Jason V you will watch it anyway. Its kinda goofy (but not even close to Jason X). It was also way less bloody than usually. The actual Manhattan part comes way late in the movie and it is disappointing. They could have made something great out of the "Jason in Manhattan" concept. The Prowler (1981) ![]() http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082951/?ref_=fn_al_tt_4 Watched it again some time ago. The movie has really original death scenes and very nice special effects made by Tom Savini. The plot is well written and it had a bit of twist at the end. Basically; GI gets dumbed by hes girfriend and after returning he goes on a rampage. The atmosphere stays cold blooded throughout the movie. All things combined; a above average slasher and a definite classic. Edit: the years of the movies.

HALLOWEEN 2 (1981)-This could have been so much better...full of cliches and dull, dull, dull. *1/2

WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH HELEN?(1971)-Quirky yet entertaining BABY JANE style flick. Shelley Winters and Debbie Reynolds (singing dancing and bitchy at times) head to Hollywood for a fresh start, but find you can never leave your past fully behind you. Good supporting cast includes Dennis Weaver, Agnes Moorehead, Yvette Vickers, Timothy Carey and Robbi Morgan who does a great Mae West impression here and went on to play the doomed hitch hiker in the 1980 FRIDAY, THE 13th. ***

Some old 80's Sword & Sorcery favorites.
Deathstalker (1983) Deathstalker II: Duel Of The Titans (1987) I still remember thinking how cool the video box cover was as a kid. ![]()

Exactly, I remember staring at the videobox cover too. So how was Deathstalker I & II? |

Deathstalker II didn't have the budget and they reused some footage from the first film, but they added the comedy element. All sorts of sexual jokes. "Is that your sword or are you just happy to see me?" kinds of things. Very, very cheesy but in a typical 80's way which made it also very fun for me. I still have to watch part III and IV. I haven't seen those since they were released and have very little memory of them. I'd re-watched the first two films in the last 5 years so they were a little fresher in my head but it had been long enough that it was time to re-watch them. But yeah, I still enjoyed them and will probably watch them again in a couple more years.

'Fright Night' (1985)
-Roddy McDowell Plot: A young man enlists the aid of an aging horror actor , when he finds out his neighbor is a vampire. Phantoms Review: One of my favorite movies. Filled with humor, scares, and homages to classic films. One of the last great vampire movies. AVOID THE REMAKE AT ALL COSTS! . Watch the original and enjoy. |
