I agree with you Fiend and Despare but in the same sense its also laziness on hollywoods part. The theroy of remake = suck i believe comes from the kind of movie that is being remade. Some stories are timeless and can be reproduced sweemlessly b/c of the strength of the plot and other things. Others that WE feel are great arent exactly for the typical american audience. We simply have a greater passion for and understanding for this genre.

That being said i also think they are stuggling in the horror genre to come up with anything creative so they are finding cult and underground hits that we know of but mainstream audiences dont. What they dont get is that is why we like them, cause it isnt your typical american horror movie. We are horror addicts that know what good horror is. IMO mainstream audiences dont know shit about the true art of horror.

I honestly have no idea how thier gonna recreate the intensity or complete relentlessness or even the genuine horror that the first half was. I think they'll take away some of the "torture porn" from the second half and dwell more on why she is being put through all the pain. More storyline about why she is a martyr.

Id still rather watch a remake of LTROI or Martyrs than most of the crap horror that is in theatres nowadays. Even though i still hate remakes.

I think some old movies should be remastered rather than remade, let the classics be just that, classics

Woah, that one went right over your head, America!

I've seen similar butchery made to films like The Descent and [REC] so I can't say I'm surprised. If everyone isn't kissing or dancing or holding hands at the ending, it's too 'brusque reality' for Hollywood. Hey, those guys even made Schindler look good..

yeah, they really need to stop doing these remakes.

i HATED the last house on the left remake. it wasn't nearly as gritty and def didn't have the same hold on me the original did.

You have to remember that alot of American movies are remade for foreign countries as well. Ever see any of the Turkish remakes? Chilling...
