Excuse my ignorance but what does TMA stand for?

Traditional Martial Arts - styles like Karate, Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Judo etc.
Its usually said to seperate it from MMA (mixed martial arts) and it is usually looked down on by MMA practitioners (with the exception of Judo and Kyokushinkai Karate). Brazilian JuJitsu isn't considered a TMA either. There are styles which don't really fit into either catagory as they are really considered sports (but they are infact also Martial Arts) - these include Western Boxing, Muai Thai, All the styles of Wrestling and KickBoxing. |
