Should Hollywood make a found footage Godzilla movie?

With the popularity of found footage films rising, I think it'd be good to have a found-footage Godzilla film. Here's how it could go if they did this? 4 college students go to Tokyo for summer vacation. But, their vacation turns into a nightmare the night Godzilla attacks the city. Can they survive? It is a pretty good idea to me. The movie would be told in a human-scale and perspective, something absent in most Godzilla movies. And the Godzilla and destruction effects would be CGI! It would be 10 TIMES cooler than Cloverfield. What do you think? |

An interesting idea but i think that would only cheapen the legacy of Godzilla by making it gimmicky and trendy

I really enjoy the found footage concept, I'm just a bit tired of it being used as an excuse to get away with sloppy/ lazy camera work. It's mostly the over use of the shaky cam technique that is becoming annoying in found footage movies, for me anyway.
