Oh and alot of weed, but not skunk! That shit has given pot a bad name!

And to Novakru i was on Abilify about 2yrs ago when it 1st came out. Ment to be very useful in bipolars but unfortinatly didnt work 4 me.

If ANY1 has any pharmacutical questions il be happy to try and answer them. Only 29 but have spent many years reading up on loads of meds.:)

How does the Lamotrigine work?
Is it a beta blocker?

I have a very weird metabolism.
Anything that works for the masses, is garrunteed to not work for me.
I went searching last night for something that sounded up my alley and nothing looked good...if the the first side effect is headache...I can cross that one off cause I get migraines at the drop of a hat.
I think maybe I'll go for some holistic stuff next though.

I have been seriously considering going in for the tests to do Catalysis.
And of course your average everyday colonic and a 2 week colon cleanse.

I used to take sublingual Vit.B12 for years and it just didn't work , not once.
I tried melatonin
Colloidal silver
St. John's wort
etc
etc
I love fresh herbals and they work in my bath, but never orallly.

You kids must have a different metabolism...
Yeah I have never been a fan of medication. I used to dump bottles of cough syrup down the drain because they made me feel dizzy and my mom would get pissed. I just don't like the idea of having all that shit in my body. I don't have enough vitamins in my diet though, so I need to supplement them.

I also can't take antihistamines because they get me high, so I either suffer and am constantly itchy from allergies to detergents and pollen etc. or find another cure, which was vitamins and they work great.

Novakru - lamotrigine is actually an anti convulsent, as is clonazepam. Generally people with dysmorphic mood swings are put on anti- cons because they also stabilize moods, often more effectively than say lithium. My Bipolar is type 2 which is rapid cycling of moods often in one day, hyper and agitated one min then severly depressed the next. These moods often occur up to 4-6 times a day unless im medicated. Had it since I was 12.
Meds probably dont work on you like other people (and im exactly the same) for 2 possible reasons.
1. If you are bipolar then your serotonin and noradrenaline levels will be erratic, and at times very low so your levels of dopamine are not released in enough quantity for you to have reactions.
2. Apparantly your brain can also have a high metabolism so it processes drugs alot faster than others.

Sorry bout spelling, hope ive helped

My bipolar's rapid cycling as well. Sometimes I say awful things, but if I know I'm going to have a bad day, I'm usually ready for it.

but do you find that the melatonin gives you really vivid dreams? Sure it makes me drowsy so I fall asleep faster but every time I take it I have the worst, most realistic nightmares.
I should probably take Vitamin D... Or just more Vitamins in general. Do you find they help you? Do you feel a difference?

And in terms of melatonin... The other psycho-meds stuff already gave me really vivid nightmares, so it's hard to tell if it's from them or the melatonin. :o

Sucks to hear that that's how they affect you - vivid dreams can seriously be exhausting.

Abilify made me lose my vision (literally and I am not exaggerating) and I couldn't... well, it's hard to explain... I couldn't function. This was four years ago. I find it abhorrent and unethical that they advertise it on TV.

Yeah abilify made it impossible to sit still or lie down, i also had constant restless legs, pretty horrid but it does work 4 some and it doesnt put on any weight like other anti-psychs.
In UK companies are not allowed to advertise anything pharmacutical by presription anywhere, very strict. So you only here about it through reading up on meds or talking to your doc. I think its awful that those sort of mind altering drugs can be advertised so easily, may as well advertise pot or acid!!

Doc Faustus - interesting to hear from another rapid cycler, and im a complete bitch when not medicated, fortunatly the meds keep it under control but been bad recently so probably gona try electric shock therapy. After that ive exgausted every other avenue! :)

Today? I've been saying this for 20 years.

The only chemicals I put in my body (or my kids' bodies) are the preservatives in our foods :p

We've all had minimal antibiotics, as a result we have incredibly strong immune systems.

I'll take Advil for migraines, and give the kids Tylenol for a fever (which is rare), but that's it.

Maybe it has something to do with when we grew up, Newb...It seems that everyone started becoming 'imbalanced' about 20 years ago when all of these medications became popular...No one took these things when we were kids...Now everyone has some sort of mental problem?...Just seems odd to me.
