Is EVERYONE Having This Fucked Up Weather, Or Is It Just Northern Kentucky AGAIN?

Okay...So, all week it's been raining and awesome, except for 3 days ago when it was TOO damned hot...Then two days ago we had an AWESOME thunderstorm...Mass amounts of beautiful lightning, high winds, sheeting rain...MAGNIFICENT...BUT...Last night it fucking SNOWED...We have snow EVERYWHERE, and Seri has to take her driving test today...WHAT THE FUCK???!!!

This actually DOES happen around this time of year here, there's been a couple of times when it snowed on Halloween and just before Easter...But, it never stops being a pain in the ass...So, anyway...I was just wondering if this happens to the rest of you guys, or if we're just lucky

We also live in what is referred to as a 'tornado alley', because we're in a low spot with really high places on each side, creating a sort of 'tunnel'...Which I know causes odd weather patterns, as well as massive amounts of storms (but, I LOVE the storms...It's one of my favorite things about living here)

I envy you the storms Rayne. Lightning storms have to be my favourite type of weather - ever since I was a kid, as soon as a storm starts you can guarantee I've got my nose pressed against the window pane searching for lightning strikes.

Unfortunately where we live we only get maybe half a dozen storms a year. We don't get a lot of extremes which has its advantages but it's just so BORING!

Actually, now that you mention it, I guess I should gratefully accept this, because if the weather WAS more 'normal' here, we most likely wouldn't get all of our storms, and I would miss them terribly...So, I guess I have to accept it as "You take the good, you take the bad..."...I just REALLY hate the freaking snow

I was discussing this with a friend who just moved here from only 20 miles away...It was a couple nights ago...We were sitting in a Chinese restaurant, it had been hot and sunny when we walked in...Then, it started storming, MAJORLY...We were sitting next to a wall that was all window, and I was watching the storm (hoping that the kids had rolled their windows up), when she commented on how odd it was...Then she brought up a couple weeks ago when it had been VERY hot as she left her house, but while she was driving about an hour later it started raining...Then came the sleet...and THEN, dime-sized balls of hail were pelting her car...lol...She made me aware of how odd the weather really is here, when I had always just been used to it...

An outsider's view can really open your eyes...Just as you did when you mentioned that you rarely have storms

And when it storms HERE, we're either sitting on the front porch, or sitting in the parlor with the front door wide open :)

We have similar weather patterns, but not as extreme as you seem to.

Ie- You get snow, it just gets bitterly cold and dry, etc.

As for tornado alley, I couldn't stand it.... Just, one of those experiences that hinder you from ever liking them again, absolutely terrifying.

^When I was in 6th (?) grade, me and a babysitter (don't ask why i still has one) were at my house playing rollercoaster tycoon in the basement, and all of a sudden her mom calls and says we should come over to there house. (She lived right next door, about 50 feet through the woods) Well, my dog, was outside, and the rain started pouring, hardcore. Nobody usually believes this, but I ran up there, wind howling ferociously, and I see her through the window on the steps to the back porch. She was almost, not quite, but ALMOST being DRAGGED off of the stairs by the winds, she's such a little dog. I ran out there IN the tornado and grab her, I can't even see. We get inside and no less than 3 seconds after I close the back door, a tree crushes the porch i was just standing on. Totally destroys it. I pick up the dog, and we had to run to her house before it got TOO bad. We run out the garage door, and across my driveway. I happened to look to the left (up the driveway towards the road) and I see it. It was massive! It was beautiful yeah, but, wow, I was flipping out. The worst thing that happened all night was right there, a car flew out of the storm, out of nowhere, and blasted down the driveway about 3 feet in front of us! We made it into the house but I swear we had no more than 2 seconds to live out there.... Sheesh if I didn't believe in God before I did that night. I know it's a toughie to believe because it's so out there, but it really happened like that.

Oh, I believe you...I watched a tornado from my front porch when I was 10 (I have ALWAYS lived in this area, except for 1 year in Alabama when I was 12...talk about BORING weather)...It was an awesome sight...And, of course I got yelled at to get my ass in the house...lol

People here aren't really that intimidated by the tornadoes, I guess because we grow up expecting them...and...We all have basements...hahaha

They don't really cause a LOT of damage here (which is really strange), they only seem to touch down long enough for us to watch them and appreciate their beauty...They usually only mess up a few things, not really much worse than our regular storms, which we've lost a few trees to over the years...Lost an apple tree 6 years ago, and 2 days ago had to remove part of a tree from the backyard before we could mow, but that's pretty common when spring/summer comes

Our old air-raid sirens are used as 'storm-warning' sirens now...You can hear them all over the city, and they go off all the time...I still remember the first time Dustin heard it...It was funny, he said, "What the fuck is THAT?!"...:D...It actually really adds to the sounds of the storms...Yeah, I love it here

Maybe I exaggerated a bit- I'm not pertified by them, that story just makes me think I am. I'm afraid of being unprepared, or stuck with my family during one, hahaha.

You're WAY further north than we are...Is it pretty normal to snow up there at this time of year?
