Also missing is Psycho and A Nightmare on Elm St. And then they have listed Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Scream. After that, I think it's really a crap-shoot. Having recently seen 13pt2 and Black Christmas, I think they're among the crap-shoot. No pun intended there. A four-way poll of Halloween, Psycho, A Nightmare on Elm St and Texas Chainsaw Massacre would be the heavies.

But even then, how many people think of Psycho as a slasher film? I think, like other horror genres, it was originally meant to be a derogatory term for every "Halloween ripoff", "any film that's basically nothing more than a series of bloody murder scenes".
