Movie Connections

You know when you see a movie, and it triggers memories of other movies you've seen? What movies have done that the most for you?

I just finished watching Blade for the first time, and it reminded me of many. First and foremost, Underworld. The whole storyline was similar, minus the lycans of course. It also reminded me of Hellboy, when they killed Whistler, it reminded me of when Dr. Broom waz killed. Also, It put visions of Mortal Combat in my head, during that final battle at the end.

What about you guys?

Even though I do love them, all the superhero movies are quite similar, they remind me of each other.

I just finished watching They, so I'll use that. It reminded me of A Nightmare of Elm Street and Pitch Black. Monsters that can only get you in the dark ... young people tormented by their dreams ... And THIS one is categorized as a DRAMA! It was more of a horror movie than King of the Ants any day! WTF!

I do hope you all realize that MOST movies do this, as it is rather difficult to be original anymore.

...a lot of movies will do an homage to older movies which had inspired the writer/director of the movie....

for instance, Underworld/Hellboy/etc came out AFTER Blade...so they had borrowed some elements of that movie...

if you go to www.imdb.com and look up the movie in question, there is a "connections" link that will tell you a lot of the movie connections you are talking about.

Off-hand the one on my mind is the scene in the Matrix where they go into the building (the one they get caught in), and its the same building used in Bladerunner....

just had another one of these memory connections, this ones real weird.

just watched Cannibal Holocaust for the first time, came through the post this morning, the main theme tune, it kept reminding me of the tune played during the scene in Kill Bill 1, where it changes to Anime and O-Ren Ishii's parents were brutally murdered at the hands of the Japanese mob.

the tune in KillBill's called "The Grand Duel"

Almost every movie I see reminds me of Deranged (the one about Ed Gein). Its just a very familiar movie to me for some reason.
