False face masks
Do you think you are able to differentiate between a real face and a "fake face"? In the news I read two gangsters wore such false faces and successfully stole jewels. Can make-up artists come so close to reality?

I think the article suggests that they can, since they got away with it ;)
Seriously though, some special effects make-up can be scarily realistic. I have been practising SFX as a hobby for a while, and when you move away from liquid/foam latex and over to gelatin prosthetics, the results you can get are amazing. Nimba do some pretty decent pre-made prosthetics and some tutorials on how to apply them. Although these are obviously more fake because of the level of gore involved, you can see how easily and well it blends into skin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EfhstTLxiw
