Misfits
So anyplace outside the UK more than likely hasn't had this show aired yet, but lets say one could obtain it from certain torrent sites, if one were so inclined.
Billed as "heroes" meets "skins". It's pretty funny, not overly reliant upon effects, and actually has decent and interesting storylines around a group of community services workers who in a freak weather event gain some "not so ordinary" superpowers. It's a cool ride for a show, quite weird too... All I can say is, give it a look, I recommend it.

sounds a bit like No Heroics, which was only on in the UK (to my knowledge)
it was very funny sitcom about a bar where superheroes (and not so 'super' heroes) went to drink - but they couldn't wear their masks or use their powers (hence - no heroics). i liked it but it was only on for one season on ITV2

Saw that. Less "superhero" but funnier, better overall quality that no heroics.
Give it a go while the torrents are plump, will not regret.
