thumbs up or thumbs down???

I've been meaing to check out these titles for years: Demons (1 and 2) and Battle Royal. I've tracked them down (it was harder than I thought) and want to check them out... However, I wanted some outside opinions so I don't go in expecting too much or too little.

Agreed 100%.

Demons is a good, fun film but dont expect a horror classic. Never seen Demons 2.

Only seen the Demons films, the first one is good popcorn horror fun, with some clever ideas and style. The second is not so good.

I've been told Battle Royale is excellent, and I'm quite certain that it is, but the premise disturbs me, and I choose not to watch that one.

Well, the first movie has that pimp character with those awesome lines, like:

"Holy shit! She's a friend of mine!"

and

"Smash everything--smash everything--SMASH EVERYTHING!"

Battle Royale is good - but a bit overhyped in my opinion. I saw the special edition with all the additional flashbacks at the end. Good, but not groundbreaking. I felt there was more potential in it for a different kind of film that might have worked better. Of course that's completely dependant on taste of the individual. Not the best asian horror/thriller I've seen, and not close either. It's an alright watch... I'd say, but not something I'd order overseas just to see. If your a fan, go for it.

I've seen Demons 2, not the first, and I'd say it's very funny when it doesn't mean to be. Or maybe it does, but hey, all in 80's fashion, right? It did have a certain feel to it, and was good fun to watch. It's teen-targetted, 13-16 perhaps. That's how I felt, anyways.
