fucked up world we live in...

I started home visits today, thats where i do my appointments at the persons home instead of at the office.I go to this building and go up like 90 steps in complete darkness.I get to the top, finally find the place...omg.It was so filthy and all i could smell was pot smoke.I finally get into the apartment and its worse. The place is a dump,no a dump is too nice of a word. Its a disgrace!!The parents were just getting up and the kids were playing in another room while they slept.I saw no kitchen..NONE!!! I'm not sure what to make of it I was sad for the kids and wanted to slap these people all at the same time. They had to go into another room and snort their pills before the interview(yes i know thats what they did,i'm an ex-junkie) and then they were the nicest people i have ever met.I could not wait to leave, they asked me if i would like to sit and i said no.I'm soirry if i sound stuck up..you shoulda seen the furniture.I knew this was going to be tough, but c'mon!I had to get this off my chest!!Thanks:)

Someone needs to call child services on those people. Those kids deserve a better home. Reading that made me very sad :(

It's the kids who are going to suffer. It really is infuriating when you see something like this.

i can relate to this thread...i exprienced alot of this when i was teaching..
the parents so high on 'p' while the kids come to school hungry..
sometimes we would pick these kids as young as 6 off the street as late as
11pm..wandering the streets...we would feed them then take them home..but
they would run away..they would rather be anywhere else but there.

I dont comment on the look of the peoples furniture or the looks of thier houses
as sometimes this is wat they consider to be their castles and mainly wat they can afford..no house or wats inside phases me ...as long as the children are safe,,happy and comfortable ..BUT!!!when you consider on what they spend thier social welfare money on..truly pisses u off.
In my area..on benny days ..as early as 6 am..[i get up at 5 n sit outside with my coffee].....you will see parents hopping off the bus carrying small packets of food and big boxes of alcohol..n the lil ones munching happily on a pie..fucken pathetic.

my years as a teacher ..i have seen so much self poverty and i have made many many attempts to get these kids out of those homes..but they are put with relatives who are no better than the parents..calling welfare service does nothing but put the child in worse situations..
so wat do we do..?? NOTHING..just sit here and get fucken mad..then go home and hug our own children and promise them to love them till we die..
we promise our own children sentimental things ..and thank god that we are more better parents than wats outside our doors.

It's really horrifying. Central PA where Mc Cain was hoping to win in the election still haunts me. Child molester after child molester in the police blotter, children half starved, pregnant 12 year olds, houses that anywhere else would be shunned and looked upon as ramshackle or haunted the order of the day. It's a dangerous world for children. You're lucky to be in the fray and have a chance to do something about it. I wrote one book about that and it's still not out of my system, so I'm working on another. I hope I can get them published and people won't just see the horror and the strangeness but will understand where it comes from and stop and think about the world they let their children and those of others live in. You're doing the work of whatever god you keep and it's hard, but thanks for doing it.

unfortunately...you can change the housing..
you can change the policies
but you will never be able to change the attitude of people..
if these fucks dont want to change then you can promise a whole heap
of things when on the election trail..
i have yet to see any difference in any country once a new govt
has been put in place.

you can pay these fucks more money to help them out of the trap
they had gotten themselves stuck in..but would it be putting
more money towards the shit they use..??
