Visually, it looks just a Waking Life. That was an awesome movie.

It's directed by the same person, using the same technique. I didn't much care for Waking Life myself, but I've got very high hopes indeed for A Scanner Darkly. The original novel by Philip K. Dick is absolutely brilliant, and I can't wait to see what they've done with it.

A Waking Life had really interesting ideas about the difference between being awake and asleep,but it was kind of a slow movie, way more intellectual, kind of like a documentary. If this new movie is based on a Philip K. Dick story, I'm more excited about it, because of course he wrote the story that Blade Runner was based on. I'm gonna have to check out this book:)

I didn't quite like the rotoscoping in Waking Life (though I didn't like much of anything in that movie). Too wavery. But it looks much more controlled in A Scanner Darkly.

And this is nothing like Sin City

not to change the subject of this thread, but i kinda liked sin city... after i turned down my critic nerve i was able to enjoy the flick.
