I Dream Of Jeannie - The Movie

Following years spent in development hell, it looks like TV classic I Dream of Jeannie is set to hit the big screen. Producer Sid Ganis has hired Rita Hsiao to re-write the current script, and is extremely optimistic about the outcome. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about her idea, Ganis said: "She has a terrific, bright, fresh approach to Jeannie's story, with a twist and turn along the way." Hsiao is making a habit of polishing scripts, having re-written the likes of 13 Going on 30 and Enchanted. Her plan is to contemporize the story, bringing the tale of an astronaut's friendship with a beautiful genie up to present day. Once the script is finished, Ganis will set about searching for a director as well as an actress to play the iconic central character.

...this just can't turn out well.
I wasn't overly fond of the original show, but I'm sure this'll make it look like a masterpiece by comparison...
