Most Horrifying Theatrical Movie

We've done most gory overall, etc. But what about most all around horryfying theatrical movie? Meaning... Not Men behind the Sun for example.

For one, I would say the Descent. It was extremely grotesque, jumpy, suspenseful, and all around nightmarish. The disorientation factor really pulled me in too.

What else?

The underlying themes of Ron Howards geriatric fetish are what makes the film disturbing.

Ah. I see.

Actually, thinking about it, Scream was actually quite messed up if you think about it. Sure its hilarious and mostly just a fun movie, but, if you think about the last 20 or so minutes, the *spoil* killers are really, REALLY, psychotic. And its pretty wild what happens**.

1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
2. Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer
3. The Omen
4. Friday the 13th Part 1
5. Carrie

TCM and 13th changed the look of horror with each of their respective release.

Henry was in limited release, and when you walked into the theatre there was a handwritten sign saying "Once you have bought a ticket for this movie, your movie can not be refunded."

Carpenters The Thing had some crazy gore for a mainstream release.

like i said before though - the movie didnt give off a gore vibe so people dont tend to think of it as gory.

*********************spoilers********************* *******

but come on ! a guys head tearing off, growing legs and running away, a guys chest cavity opening up and chopping a guys hands off, a head splitting open, etc, etc ..

there was more gore in that one scene than in a lot of other so called horror movies combined.
