Thumbs down Toe Tags Movie

I rented this movie and then read the reviews. They were quite negative, to say the least. I had asked the clerk at Hastings if I could bring it back if it didn't have subtitles or cc. I started watching the movie. It didn't. I turned it off after the first 5 minutes because it was so bad! Well, I got lucky enough to exchange it for David Lynch's Mulholland Dr. I started watching this movie and got sleepy. It wasn't boring. I was very tired. I'm gonna watch it now that I've had some rest.

What Toe Tag flick was it? August Underground is average as fuck (overhyped Blair Witch syndrome with a dash of Snuff) but I dug Mordum, Penance and The Redsin Tower a lot. One of the few independent studios really making an impact on the genre. I check out a bunch of SOV/barebones horror flicks and their shit is consistently a step above everyone else.

Mulholland Dr was pretty dull to me. Mediocrity sold to us under a quality brand name. Something I'll revisit at some stage to see if I dig it because everything he did up in till then really kicked my ass and maybe I didn't get it at the time (but I hate all the shtik with a "Lynch" flick).

I think she is referring to a movie called "Toe Tags". It is a low budget film where people get killed and the toe tags get stolen off their corpses in the morgue.

Yes, that's it.

I hated Mulholland Drive. I couldn't understand it either, Elvis. I read more reviews and I understand it a bit more. Some people were saying it needed to be viewed more than once to "get it". I don't want to watch it again. I don't have another 2 1/2 hours to waste. Oh, and the first 90 minutes were boring as hell. I've decided I don't like David Lynch's films.

I never watched Twin Peaks when it came out because I was always working. I saw bits and pieces of it recently while checking out the Chiller channel on TV and I thought it was cheesy as all get out! I didn't watch Blue Velvet because I can't stand Dennis Hopper.

I think Lynch also directed Dead Ringers (?) starring Jeremy Irons. I liked that one, if I'm remembering correctly. Nevertheless, I took Lost Highway off my queue at NF.

I like David Cronenberg so far. The film called Spider wasn't that good IMHO, but maybe others films will be.

Dario Argento is ok. Tenebre was a bit cheesy but it was interesting. I enjoyed the music, too. I'm not sure if I want to watch some of his other films yet.

Do y'all have any suggestions for films directed by Cronenberg? I can look his filmography up but I want to know what's good.

:)

I have the autographed version of both Mordum and Penance, neither are amazing, but they were good efforts and definitely twisted, uncomfortable watches.

Mulholland Drive isnt really meant to be understood, its meant to be interpreted, like most Lynch films. lynch hates it when people look up what his films are supposed to mean, however I do it myself sometimes too. The meanings behind Eraserhead are incredibly interesting and complex.

Dead Ringers was Cronenberg, not Lynch.

You probably shouldn't write Dario Argento off as "ok" just after seeing one film. watch Deep Red and then judge him. a lot of people are huge fans of Suspiria too, not so much myself.

as for good Cronenberg films, Videodrome, Naked Lunch, The Fly, History Of Violence, and Eastern Promises are all exceptional, I've heard the Brood is too, but i havnt seen it.
Put Lost highway back on your queue btw. creepy as hell movie, heavy on the atmosphere. Lynch's darkest film next to Eraserhead IMO.

I'd tell you to watch Blue Velvet pronto, but since you dont like Hopper (and i cant understand why) you probably wouldn't like the film either, because he pulls the whole thing together.

I looked up Cronenberg's filmography and noticed Dead Ringers. Oops. I liked that movie.

Yeah, I have two of Argento's movies in my queue.

I loved History of Violence and I have Eastern Promises already in my queue. I love Viggo Mortensen. *sexy man*

I'll give Lost Highway a chance.

I saw Dennis Hopper in Boiling Point with Wesley Snipes and other movies. I try to avoid his movies because he's not a good actor IMHO, and there's something about him that rubs me the wrong way. I can't explain it. I don't care for Jack Nicholson but I liked him in The Shining. He's a good actor but it's the same thing as with Hopper. I just don't like those two.

Thanks for the suggestions. :)
