True Horror in this world....

Okay, I just finished readin the two "Manhunt Murder" threads in the true crime forum, and i have concluded that the most frightening thing in this world is humankind's lack of responsibility over the past couple of decades.

We are no longer responsible fo rour own actions apparently. Why does everyone think the government has been trying so hard to control everything? There are MASSES of dumb bastards in the bible belt BEGGING the government to control what we see and hear so that they dont have to worry about seeing anything "offensive", or better still, ahev to explain to their 12 year old what a "tit" is because they overheard it somewhere.

It has grown beyond the days when they tried to ban elvis because he moved his ass. Now, because we have kids with fuses so short they snap and kill other kids because of frustration, ignorance and hate, supposedly the media is to blame?

What about 50 years ago when the KKK was killing people because they were nice to a black person, or a Jew? What was that blamed on? Did bugs bunny influence them to commit acts of violence? NO!

Did Al-Queda watch too many slasher flicks as kids? NO!

Did HITLER have access to Doom and Quake?!?!?

I could go on.

Now, what if someone blew up an abortion clinic and they found a copy of "Postal" in his apartment? Would they blame the game?

I suppose i should shut my trap... One of you may go commit a crime because I talked about lack of responsibility.....

It sickens me as well. I can't believe the number of stupid people out there blaming their problems on other people. It's especially bad when they blame their problems on a faceless mass, such as "the media", because all they are really trying to do is make themselves feel better, as if they are justified in standing by and doing nothing.

BAAAHHHH!!!!

I'd be willing to wager that if you search the house of someone (almost anyone) who commits a violent crime, you'd probably find a copy of The Bible. But, nobody seems to want to ever blame "the book", even though many hate crimes are committed as a result of what is taught in this book. Of course, if it's The Bible, then there's something wrong with the person. If it's anything else, like a game, then there's something wrong with the game (or movie, or music, etc.)

Remember when they blamed Marylin Manson for Columbine? Marylin Manson??? Are you serious?? It's like blaming a Mystique actor. The kicker is that they also blamed...get ready...Monty Python, because the kids liked Monty Python. Monty Python:rolleyes: And I'm the Pope's ho.

Further more...I'm not given to conspiracy theories, but my dad did work for the CIA. He's said time and again that its the FBI that you have to watch out for.

I think Marylin Manson said it best, in Bowling for Columbine:

Marilyn Manson: The two by-products of that whole tragedy were, violence in entertainment, and gun control. And how perfect that that was the two things that we were going to talk about with the upcoming election. And also, then we forgot about Monica Lewinsky and we forgot about, uh, the President was shooting bombs overseas, yet I'm a bad guy because I, well I sing some rock-and-roll songs, and who's a bigger influence, the President or Marilyn Manson? I'd like to think me, but I'm going to go with the President.

Michael Moore: Do you know that on the day of the Columbine massacre, the US dropped more bombs on Kosovo than any other day?

Marilyn Manson: I do know that, and I think that's really ironic, that nobody said 'well maybe the President had an influence on this violent behavior' Because that's not the way the media wants to take it and spin it, and turn it into fear, because then you're watching television, you're watching the news, you're being pumped full of fear, there's floods, there's AIDS, there's murder, cut to commercial, buy the Acura, buy the Colgate, if you have bad breath they're not going to talk to you, if you have pimples, the girl's not going to fuck you, and it's just this campaign of fear, and consumption, and that's what I think it's all based on, the whole idea of 'keep everyone afraid, and they'll consume.'

i can honestly say i understand why people want to blame tv, music, and video games for all the bad stuff their kids do. and dont freak out, im not saying i agree. people want to blame it on these things because we as a society have allowed these things to become the baby-sitters of america. how can you expect kids to behave if you never teach them how. Vodstok asked earlier if al-queda watched too many slasher films as kids. hell no. they did exactly what they were trained to do. if you train your kids to be killers, thats what they will do. If you expect your kids to create their own morale standards, then you deserve whatever they come up with.

it's all about parents. i saw return of the living dead when i was 7 years old and have been addicted to horror movies ever since. but i came from a loving, nuturing household and i have never been in so much as a fist fight all my life. repeat: it's all about the parents.
