The Video Dead (1987)/Movies to Watch Friday Nights

If anyone hasn't seen this one, and if you're seeking a movie to watch on a Friday night, here's one I always find fun to watch!

Huge fan of this movie. First watched it when I was a kid, renting horror movies from the local video rental store and still love it now. No DvD release for this film yet though and my two vhs copies have seen better days.

Chainsaw weilding zombie brides & zombies hiding in washing machines.... Awesome.

Are your two VHS copies the same, like the same format and so forth? I really wish this was out on DVD, though my VHS copy is still holding up nicely.

What are some of your other faves?

Copies are both the same, just the one is barley watchable so I got a second copy.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but here's a bunch of video rental era flicks you might like, some take themselves more seriously than others...

Scanners
Demons
Day of the Dead
They Live
Neon Maniacs
Braindead
Braindamage
Bad Taste
The Blob (198X)
The Stuff
Basket Case
Class of Nuke 'Em High

Oh yes, you mention a lot that I like and remember fondly!

Scanners. The only thing I remember is there was a Xmas theme to it, (in the mall) A killer Santa?). I think this is the one.

Demons is a personal favorite. That soundtrack rocks! Love the Euro-Zombie feel. Some of the best special effects ever. Need I say more, (the helicopter scene).

Day of the Dead. I might have to give that another watch. It seemed so slow!

What is Neon Maniacs like? Very interested to see that one

Bad Taste- AWESOME! I didn't know what to think when I first saw this, but I do love the dialouge.

I like the Son of Blob. Ever seen that one?

The Stuff, Basket Case, Class of Nuke Em.. All classics that were shown on TV back in the day when TV was actually fun to watch.

I think you might be thinking of Silent Night Deadly Night rather than Scanners but you can add that to the list anyway.

Haven't seen Son of Blob though, at least not recently enough to remember.

The fact that Dick Van Patten stars in Son of Blob, that makes it all the more hilarious. :)

Do you like Hammer films? Even the ones from the 80's. The hour long movies by Roy Skeggs?

Since we both own copies of The Video Dead, let's say we sync up a time and day to watch this "in-spirit" as an all day marathon sometime this week?

Sound like an idea? :D

The killer santa in the mall you are thinking of is from Trancers(1985) while not a horror film it's a real trippy sci-fi that's about time travel.

But yeah the video dead is such a wicked flick it's really awful how many good horror movies are not out on dvd right now....
