HDC Interviews: Elvis Christ
Well here it is folks. Are first interview.I tried to keep it short so people dont have to write as much.
Hope you enjoy and learn a little something about a fellow member. When did you first get into the horror genre? I was about 7 or 8 I think. I was always fascinated by the cover artwork all the tapes just screamed RENT ME (of course being that young I wasn't allowed haha). I sneaked a watch of Fright Night and the first Friday The 13th on the "Sunday Horrors/Friday Frights" they used to have on TV over here and became a lifer. Over the last 5 or 6 years I've become a more dedicated horror fan and buy more memorabilia/movies and have slipped into more fanatical territory. Whats your favorite horror movie and why? I've got a bunch but The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 is the one I'd pick. It's just so over the top plays out like a comic book. Chop Top is just such a crazy character that really makes this film for me. It's a flick most people consider a "bad" movie (like a lot of my favorite films) but I think its heaps fun and encompass the majority of aspects I love about the genre. Total escapism that doesn't take itself to seriously. Whats the best horror moment you ever had? Attending a midnight screening of The Exorcist creeped me right the fuck out. What do you dislike about the horror genre? The genre's inability to break free of trends such as remakes & "Torture Porn". Fans/critics who are quick to write off guys like Argento and Carpenter's later work before even seeing the films. Directors with no knowledge of the genre making shitty flicks because they think horror films are "simple" and a quick stepping stone to bigger and better things. The use of CGI over more hands on effects. What do you think about the current state of the horror genre? I think its in great shape and in a highly productive phase that hasn't been seen since the 80s. Great to see a lot of the independent studios going from strength to strength releasing horror films for horror fans. Foreign countries giving America a run for its money is fuckin' cool too. There's definitely a quantity over quality thing going on but some impressive films have jumped out from a lot of the average drivel. What do you think makes or breaks a film? Not delivering on the hype surrounding it, bad casting (especially when it comes to big studio films), mediocre unoriginal scripts you've seen a million times before will break a horror film for me. A well crafted original entertaining film is where its at. I'm a total trash fiend so a good dose of graticiousness goes far with me. I just like to see passionate films made by those with a love for the genre. If you could be any horror movie icon, who would you be? Jim VanBebber... not strictly a horror director but whatever. I respect his DIY ingenuity and integrity the genre needs more directors like this guy. There it is folks.Hope everyone enjoys it.I know there are alot of people who could have conducted this better but I just wanted to try and had something to the place that has given so much to me.

Those are all sound questions and responses as far as I'm concerned. Good to see.
There isn't a whole lot I can say in reply to this, but I assure you I think it's a brilliant idea and I enjoyed reading it all.
