Planning a big prank
I'm planning on pulling a big prank on my brother-in-law and I'm looking for some ideas or recommendations. Basically I want to setup a bunch of different things to make it seem as though there is a spirit/ghost in his house. His wife (my sister) is going away for a week so I will do this than when he home alone. During his childhood his house had the presence of a ghost. He only saw it one time in his basement, I've heard the story 1,000 times. Him and his brother went in the basement to grab a nintendo game and as they were looking for it they saw a figure walk by and he said it still gives him chills to this day. Also his grandfather, who originally lived in that house used to collect coins. He had one coin that was his favorite. Every day the coin appeared on the kitchen table. His mom would get rid of it every day and the next day it would appear again. So....based off that here are some ideas and than you can maybe help me build off of that.
- As I stated before....the coin. I have no idea what it looked like but have an idea. I am going to try and find an old coin based on the description that he has told me. I am going to put it somewhere in his house, probably the table in the basement because that is where I am going to setup most of the props -He is always in the basement playing his game. His computer is also in the basement so he is down there alot. I am going to setup a log on his computer to shutdown at a certain time. Nothing much here but this is just how its going to begin. *NOTE* I am going to be inside the house the entire time because some pranks I am going to have to do myself at a certain time. - Spray some type of an odor, make the smell different (not sure what quite yet) - Opening cabinets and drawers...pull out a chair or two while he's downstairs - Make quiet footsteps and creaks, nothing to loud - Change the temperature....hate to use thermostat so may try to find another way...we'll see -Some way of brushing a breeze through the basement to brush against him to feel as though he is being touched..also not sure how yet -The hard task.....making the image of a ghost appear in his basement without a projector and without being down there to make it happen...suggestions? -Somehow making his dog act weird...growling, crying, moving or running around freaking out...possibly one of those whistles that only dogs can hear -Making his recliner rock back and forth....extremely thin string.. This is going to be hard to tackle and I this is just a rough draft. Need to get some good ideas on how to successfully perform each of these tasks, without him knowing I'm in the house. I would LOVE to record this and I'm going to sure as hell try, if I do I'll be sure to show you the tape. Ghosts are the only thing that scares him because of his childhood so this will be good. Any suggestions or ideas would be great! Last edited by Shady; 04-20-2009 at 10:11 PM. |

Cannabis - Opening cabinets and drawers...pull out a chair or two while he's downstairs attach ropes through ceiling and inner walls to top of doors - Make quiet footsteps and creaks, nothing to loud guinea pigs - Change the temperature....hate to use thermostat so may try to find another way...we'll see Break it internally so it looks on, when it's not. -Some way of brushing a breeze through the basement to brush against him to feel as though he is being touched..also not sure how yet ... -The hard task.....making the image of a ghost appear in his basement without a projector and without being down there to make it happen...suggestions? a dog. In a blanket. -Somehow making his dog act weird...growling, crying, moving or running around freaking out...possibly one of those whistles that only dogs can hear put a blanket on it. Two-fer' Or, dogs really hate it when you tie a baloon to their collar. -Making his recliner rock back and forth....extremely thin string.. throw spiders at his face

This'll be funny if you pull it off. You want to be careful he doesn't realize there's a human messing with him and attack you. Also, hope he's up for a laugh.
-Find a radio station before hand which plays old music. Tune the radio to that very quietly then turn it up while he's downstairs. -Get an identical TV remote to his and mess with it. -Light a cigarette/pipe/cigar and let the smell fill the house. -(very subtle) flick the corner of a rug so it looks like somebody has walked over it.

Not sure how you are going to pull most of your ideas off.
A fair few years ago a couple of friends of mine did something similar (much smaller scale though) to their girlfriends and one of the tricks they did was leaving a trail of muddy footprints from the back door to the middle of the room. They just ended the trail there and it worked a treat. You might be able to plant a baby monitor in the basement so when hes down there you can talk into the other end, the odd heavy breath and half heard word would freak him out.

You need to make sure the signs deviate as much from his story as possible, otherwise he'll get suspicious. If the ghost is exactly like his old ghost, he's unlikely to think his house is haunted.

Or he might end up having a stroke.
Worst case scenario.
